9:15: Victim Advocate or Movement Activist?
We’ll look at the roots of the movement to end domestic violence and some pivotal moments in movement history that shaped the current landscape of funding for services. We will also consider our roles as advocates within this structure, the scope of work, and how we use data to tell the story of our advocacy and the survivors we serve.
10:45: Choose a workshop:
- Art-ivism & Creative Community Organizing
Join us to draw, paint, collage, doodle, write, sing, play, or dream. Bring your own projects-in-motion, or work on something new. For folks who like a little more guidance, we’ll have a collective prompt centered around the phrase “We Keep Us Safe!” We will talk briefly about examples of art-ivism and creative community organizing before working on our own, together!
- Advocate Safety Planning: Mapping Care & Support in Ourselves & Each Other
We invite you to a vital workshop focused on our own safety planning and how we can build and create supportive environments within our work. As we continue to advocate for those who need it most, it is essential to recognize the importance of our own safety and well-being. This workshop will equip you with tools and strategies to prioritize your needs while fostering relationships in our collective community.
