Join us in Wausau on September 24 to learn and share with fellow advocates! We will start at 10am, break for lunch, and reconvene until about 3:45pm.
Program
Approaching Co-Advocacy (10am-12pm, Wisconsin Room)
Co-advocacy means working respectfully and collaboratively with other programs to reduce barriers to services. Putting this concept into practice is much more complex. Together, advocates will explore what co-advocacy means to each of us and where we might identify helpful practices in different contexts.
Lunch on our own (12-1:30pm)
Breakout sessions (1:30-3pm):
- Housing Systems Overview and Advocacy: In this session we will root ourselves in Housing is Healing! Explore housing systems and housing initiatives throughout the state of Wisconsin. Unearth innovative ways to explore co-advocacy with local housing programs while centering confidentiality and safety for survivors. (Wisconsin Room)
- Immigration Options for Survivors (hybrid – join remotely OR in-person): Learn about immigration options for survivors, such as U visas, T visas, and VAWA self-petitions. We will cover requirements to apply, what the processes look like, and outcomes for survivors who obtain these types of immigration remedies. (DuBay Room or via Zoom)
Co-Advocacy Conclusion (3-3:45pm, Wisconsin Room)
We are excited to gather in person, while offering an option to join the Immigration Options session remotely!
