Primary responsibilities
General Summary:
Bi-lingual Advocate provides support to victims of sexual assault and domestic violence, collaborates with the community and supports agency/staff knowledge around dynamics of violence within the Hispanic community. This position is scheduled 35 hours per week.
Essential Functions:

Provides trauma-informed care practices into service provision for all clients.

Answers crisis line, provides referrals, and completes database entry.

Provides 1:1 advocacy, to adults focusing on sexual violence with a priority to bi-lingual clients. Advocacy includes support, identifying needs, developing coping and grounding methods, safety planning, and establishing next steps.

Responds to SANE requests during business hours for bi lingual clients.

Responds to forensic interviews requests from the Child Advocacy Center.

Maintains a strong knowledge base regarding community agencies and resources.

Assists in maintenance bilingual materials (paperwork, brochures) and supports development of cultural competent response to the Hispanic community.

Actively participate on community committee(s).

Attends monthly all staff meeting, bi-weekly coordinator meetings, and weekly updates with Associate Director.

Supports and attends all FRIENDS special events and functions including internal committees such as Social Media.

Represents FRIENDS in a positive manner.

Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
-
Bi-lingual proficiency in Spanish.

Requires a level of knowledge acquired through the completion of a bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field OR a combination of relevant education and employment.

Prior related work experience in the areas of sexual violence, domestic violence, and the trauma-informed service provision framework. Direct client work preferred.

Excellent communication skills; cultural competence and the ability to interact with diverse populations. Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality.

Strong self-motivation and organizational skills to manage a variety of diversified tasks in a timely manner.

Ability to work flexible hours.

Maintains a high degree of professionalism with sound judgment.

Ability to work well in a team or independent environment.

Working knowledge of all Microsoft Office products.

Valid driver’s license.
