Director of Domestic Violence Services

Under the of the Board of Directors, the Director is responsible for the providing leadership and supervision of the domestic violence shelter, program operations, staff, internship program, and volunteers. In addition, the Director is responsible for strategic planning, fiscal planning and management, resource development, public relations, and program management of the domestic violence program. The Director collaborates with Solutions Center homeless program, community partners, agencies, establishes funding resources, and donor development. The Director is also responsible for ensuring compliance with grant funded activities and time allocation to funded sources.

The Director strives to continuously improve the agency’s viability and effectiveness in fulfilling its mission. Model and promote attitudes of non-violence, anti-oppression, inclusiveness, and power-sharing in all facets of position responsibilities. The Director is the voice against domestic violence, teen dating violence, sexual assault, rigid gender roles, and attitudes towards homelessness within the community through conversation, trainings, and social media.

Primary responsibilities

Responsible for staff supervision, and leadership administration of operations of the organization:

  • Direct supervision of shelter and office staff.
  • Responsible for the recruitment, hiring, and training/delegation of training of new hires.
  • Review/development of training process and policies.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans and agency procedures.
  • Develop organizational and administrative policies for Board of Directors review and approval.

Oversight of Programs and Direct Client Services

  • Ensures efficient operation of programs within shelter, prevention, and outreach/legal advocacy programing.
  • Provides direction and support of new programs or program modifications to enhance services and improve access by victims of domestic violence
  • Provides client assistance, as needed in conjunction with Service Advocates and Case Managers.
  • First Point of Contact for client grievances
  • Assists with client inquiries via phone or walk-in, as needed.

Attend and Support Activities Associated with the Board of Directors

  • Work with the Board of Directors and its committees.
  • Act as a liaison between the Board and agency staff, volunteers and clients.
  • Attend Board of Director meetings
  • Prepare and present monthly reports for the Board of Directors.
  • Provide information and recommendations to the Board of Directors.
  • Develop and coordinate fundraising activities and events.
  • In conjunction with the Board of Directors and staff, establish agency goals and oversee progress
  • Prepare the yearly agency budget for Board approval.

Contract Compliance and Budget Development and Financial Management

  • Maintains relationships with all grant administrators.
  • Ensures that services, acquired data, and reporting comply with contractual obligations
  • Provides ongoing budget oversight throughout year, inform of program needs and expenses.
  • Comply and adequately maintain statistical database systems for domestic violence services.
  • Develop, monitor, and revise program budgets.
  • Allocate resources within budget and in accordance with agency policy and contractual obligations.
  • Research, write, and apply for appropriate grants.
  • Oversees agency grants, ensure compliance, identify performance outcomes, and develop financial reports.

Promote the agency’s vision, mission, services and needs to the community

  • Develop and maintain working relationships with community, state, and county agencies/programs and represent the agency at appropriate meetings
  • Represent the organization in its relationship with government agencies, the media, community organizations, and professional organizations
  • Act as the primary spokesperson for the agency with the news media and the community
  • Coordinate campaigns to educate the community on agency services and domestic violence.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required and Master’s Degree preferred in a related field.
  • Minimum of three years professional management/supervisory experience, preferably with a non-profit agency.
  • Possess strong knowledge of effects of domestic violence and sexual assault
  • Knowledge of trauma impact and trauma informed care.
  • Fundraising or public relations experience
  • Experience in grant writing and maintenance required.
  • Experience in fundraising, event planning, and marketing.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong collaboration and networking skills.
  • Knowledge and availability to maintain a 24/7 on-site shelter facility
