Responsibilities
Under the direction of the President & CEO, the Director of Shelter and Hotline Services will be responsible for strategic planning, long-range forecasting, programmatic and financial oversight, personnel management, and daily operations of Shelter and Hotline Services. This position will provide leadership to Associate Director, Advocates, Coordinators, Interns, Volunteers and others as assigned, while also working collaboratively with the Associate Director. Oversee programs, support case management, operations, reporting, programming, and activities. Ensure the Shelter programming meets client needs in accordance with Agency policies and procedures. Maintain awareness of changes in the community and community processes that can affect advocacy and shelter services; bring forward recommendations to address expected changes. In addition, this position will work in conjunction with senior leadership to leverage internal and external resources to augment services. Availability to work all shifts on a scheduled basis and/or as needed.

How will your days be spent?
-Provide leadership to maintain and integrate knowledge of innovative program principles, available domestic violence family resources, the criminal and civil court systems, child welfare system, family court, children’s court and the domestic abuse and child abuse restraining order processes.
-Develop, recommend, and upon approval, implement the annual program budget. Analyze and report on variances between actual and budgeted expenditures.
-Ensure all required statistical recordkeeping and data gathering, reports, and staff records are completed in an accurate, clear and timely manner, and are stored according to compliance procedures. Compile and verify all required statistics according to distributed schedule and submit to appropriate parties.
-Adhere to, implement and enforce all Agency policies.
-Oversee the development and maintenance of all procedure manuals for all shelter program operations.
-Develop, implement and evaluate resident group curriculum. Review and analyze facilitator group/individual sessions and reports to ensure compliance with established curriculum.
-Coordinate and implement the dissemination of program information and assist in public relations matters concerning the Agency.
-Meet with residents on a weekly basis to explore the dynamics of domestic violence, review the cycle of abuse and the client’s established goals, as well as provide individual specific counseling.
-Meet with and coordinate services with outside providers, developing and maintaining positive working relationships.
-Assess community resources for medical, educational, legal or psychological services, develop, and maintain a list of appropriate referral sources for clients.
-Oversee development of food program.
-Participate in strategic planning for leadership development, diversity and cultural competency plans, and delivery of trauma informed care within the agency.
-Oversee and assist with Intern and Volunteer Orientation, placement, development and training of new interns and volunteers.
-Work closely with Data Analytics and Compliance and Development Departments to oversee the tracking, narrative development, and implementation of programming in accordance with grant and funding requirements. Maintain compliance with these requirements.
-Complete grant and outcomes reports to necessary funders. Oversee the implementation of programming in accordance to grant and funding requirements. Maintain compliance to these requirements.
-Support Senior Leadership, Directors and Supervisors with program development, outreach, trainings and speaking engagements.
-Attend and actively participate in department staff meetings, retreats, in-service programs, and other functions as requested. Attend regularly scheduled meetings with President & CEO to discuss program needs, updates, etc., and hold regular team meetings and individual 1:1 meetings with Associate Director and other staff.
-Attend and actively participate in Board and staff meetings, retreats, in-service programs, and other functions as directed.
-Provide strategic and organizational oversight while working collaboratively with the Associate Director. To manage the needs of the Shelter and Hotline.
-Provide coaching and training for staff in the processes and methods required to achieve the organization’s standards for quality, quantity, and safety. Including, but not limited to, the agency database, referrals, placements and advocacy.
-Ensure organizational compliance with all local, state and federal regulatory agencies. Promote affirmative action and equal employment opportunity in compliance with the Agency Civil Rights Plan.
-Ensure the completion of all required paperwork, records, documents, trainings such as ServSafe, etc.
-Ensure compliance with all safety, work rules, regulations, and dress code. Ensure the maintenance of departmental housekeeping standards.
-Oversee and ensure the accurate disbursement of petty cash.
-Back up other Shelter and Hotline staff members when needed.
-Ability to work a full time schedule and have regular attendance at the workplace. Availability to work all shifts on a scheduled basis and/or as needed including participation in on-call rotation.
-Practice agency polices and safety in the workplace.
-Attend all mandatory meetings and trainings.

Qualifications

What are we looking for?

-Experience providing compassionate, non-judgmental care and support to people who may exhibit symptoms related to trauma, behavioral health illness and substance use.
-Sensitivity and understanding of domestic violence issues, knowledge of community resources, comprehension of the criminal justice system, communication skills, and ability to advocate for the needs of clients.
-Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, and measurement of these effects.
-Knowledge of principles and processes for providing effective client service, including needs assessments, meeting quality standard for services and evaluation of client satisfaction.
-Knowledge of group behavior and dynamics, strategies for effective group facilitation.
-Experience working with adults and/or children exposed to interpersonal violence.
-Demonstrated career progression and increasing roles of responsibility.
-Exceptional strategic planning, analytical, research, writing and oral advocacy skills.
-Ability to articulate legal concepts and complex issues and communicate them tactfully and effectively to a variety of audiences.
-Initiative, vision and ability to develop and implement short and long-term integrated advocacy strategies.

Requirements
-Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in social work, criminal justice, human services or related field.
-5-7 years of progressively responsible related experience; or a combination of education and experience.
-Knowledge of the domestic violence advocacy service through direct work experience.
