SUMMARY Reports directly to the Associate Director (AD) and provides direct support to the AD. Position is responsible for overseeing victim service programs and ensuring that all clients’ evolving needs are met in a reasonable and effective manner. Must possess a working understanding and an appreciation of Asha’s holistic model of service that is culturally responsive to African American populations in particular. Responsible for knowing and assuring that all program descriptions per each victim services grant is being met. Includes scheduling, supervision, staffing and training of direct client services staff – (DV Advocates and DV Advocate volunteers/students). Is expected to provide direct client services when necessary. Will coordinate and organize client recruitment activities and client referral networks. Coordinate on-going training activities for Advocates and like volunteers. Assure the coordination of activity from time-to-time related to securing needs of victims, e.g. toiletries, baby items, clothing, shoes, food and the like. Is required to attend and participate in relevant local and State DV/SA network meetings and report overview to AD. Coordinate, supervise and implement Sister Circle Support Groups (Community/In-custody). Is responsible for the monthly and annual generation and submission of Reports as required by funding sources. Is responsible for assuring all client information is entered weekly in agency database. Work with Associate Director on outside and inter-agency collaborations and programs. Assist AD in policy implementation and assurance. Will from time-to-time provide overviews on victim services to the Board of Directors. Assures that victim safety is paramount.
This is a permanent full-time hourly position. The salary for this position starts at $41,800 annually. Must have the ability to work flexible hours that will include (from time-to-time) some evenings and weekend hours. Emergencies with clients may arise during holidays and weekends. Participate in developing and rotating on-call schedule. Some travel will be required. This leadership position will work with and oversee services for victims of domestic, sexual assault, sex trafficking and dating violence from diverse backgrounds; however, the majority may be African American females. This position requires communication and the ability to work as a “Team Member”. Requires “Flexibility” and will provide direct support services to subordinates and the identified victims at Asha’s community-based location or within the community itself, and other locations. This position will offer to and assure that victims receive crisis intervention including Safety Planning, (Military Screen if relevant), Individual and/or Group counseling, Criminal Justice, Medical, W2 and/or education systems advocacy and support as well as referrals and follow-up.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Requires a bachelor’s degree or credentialed license such as SAC and 1-year experience or High School Diploma and at least 3 years of related experience; or an Associate Degree or two years of college with job-related coursework and 3 years of progressively responsible related experience. Must possess a working understanding and an appreciation of Asha’s holistic model of service that is culturally responsive to African American populations in particular. Sensitivity and understanding of domestic, sexual or dating violence issues, knowledge of community resources, comprehension of the criminal justice system, counseling, and communication skills, and ability to advocate for the needs of victims.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Requires a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, logs, and procedure manuals. Ability to prepare safety plans, intake information, charts and logs, and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with, service providers, clients, vendors, and other employees of the organization.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Requires the ability to engage people as well as the ability to operate a variety of standard business machines, such as a computer and the job–related software, a keyboard, calculator, telephone, FAX, photocopier, shredder, etc.
