The Lead Shelter Advocate provides support and advocacy to victims of domestic violence and their children in the DAIS emergency shelter. Responsibilities include assisting shelter residents with daily living needs, providing general support and shelter coverage, conducting assessments to determine eligibility for shelter services, maintaining and updating the client database, preparing rooms for new residents and conducting security checks. The Lead Shelter Advocate serves as the primary contact person for Shelter Advocates while on duty and when a coordinator or manager is unavailable. The Lead Shelter Advocate is an awake position. Assigned work shifts may include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays to ensure adequate coverage of the shelter program.

Qualifications
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• A minimum of two years of experience working with trauma survivors required
• Experience in a residential facility setting strongly preferred
• Experience supervising the work and performance of others preferred
• Knowledge of domestic violence issues preferred
• Experience in crisis intervention preferred
• Excellent computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office preferred.
• Bilingual preferred
• Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
