Supervisor of CDAAP (Community Domestic Abuse Advocacy Program)

The CDAAP Department includes Advocates and High Risk Advocates who provide on-going support, case management, court support, referrals to community resources and more. CDAAP Advocates are located in police department district offices. The Supervisor of the CDAAP program works primarily from the Sojourner Family Peace Center. This program collaborates with the Milwaukee Police Department and other suburban police districts. Under the direction of the Senior Director of Advocacy, the Supervisor of CDAAP implements department programming and provides direct supervision advocates.

How will your days be spent?
-Ensuring exemplary client service delivery to survivors referred to the CDAAP program.
-Carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies to support employees as they support clients.
-Hiring, training and coaching CDAAP advocates and ensuring they have the resources necessary to provide a high level of support to survivors.
-Acting as the agency liaison between the agency and MPD and other law enforcement jurisdictions to ensure the needs of domestic violence survivors are met.
-Planning, assigning, and directing strategic program initiatives.
-Provide community presentations and trainings on domestic abuse, agency services, legal systems-related issues (restraining orders, etc.) or other related topics.
-Compiling and analyzing monthly data and statistics to assist with program planning.
-Ensuring program adherence to agency processes, procedures and standards.
-Working in collaboration with key community partners including Milwaukee Police Department and suburban law enforcement districts, to develop relationships and services to further the agency’s mission and goals.

Qualifications

What are we looking for?
-Experienced Social Services professional with an understanding of how to manage teams and help clients navigate sensitive and complex issues.
-Critical thinker who can plan strategically and assist others with effective problem resolution.
-Ability to foster positive work relationships with diverse groups of people with Sojourner staff and with community partners.
-Respectful, caring and accepting of the choices of others and ability to inform clients about choices without exercising undue influence in regards to their decisions.
-Professionals who can remain calm and helpful when others are in crisis.
-Knowledgeable in regards to the intricacies of the legal system and process.

Requirements
-Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, criminal justice, or related field.
-Minimum of two years supervisor experience with the demonstrated ability to lead and manage.
-Prior knowledge and experience regarding best practices for providing case managment and advocacy services.
-Knowledge of the criminal justice system and proven ability to successfully work in collaboration in with law enforcement and community partners.
-Proven ability to foster team work and collaboration and lead others in a positive manner.
-Strong verbal and written communication skills.
-Ability to work flexible hours as needed including some evenings and weekends and an insured car with valid driver’s license.
-Bilingual in Spanish or Hmong a plus.
-Comprehensive knowledge of statutory framework for domestic abuse, harassment and child abuse injunctions, and knowledge of and experience with legal system,
including prior work with victims, police, prosecutors, court commissioners and judges strongly preferred.
-Experience managing a team of remote employees who work in the field or from satellite locations preferred.
