The Violence Prevention Specialist actively networks with a variety of campus and community groups, including the Office of Student Life, the Office of Residence Life, the Office for Campus Climate and Diversity, the Coordinator of Student Wellness, University Police, the Student Health Center, the Counseling and Testing Center, the La Crosse domestic violence and sexual assault response teams, and area law enforcement agencies and medical centers. The Violence Prevention Specialist serves on UWL’s Title IX Team, and is an advisory member of UWL’s Campus Assessment Response and Evaluation (CARE) Team.
This is a full-time position and includes a State of Wisconsin benefits package.
Primary responsibilities
Advocating for victims of interpersonal violence on campus.
Coordinating and developing institutional responses to interpersonal violence.
Educating students, faculty, staff, and classified staff about issues of interpersonal violence.
Supervision.
Community Partnership.
Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field.
• Experience working in the field of sexual assault, sexual harassment, stalking, and/or relationship violence prevention, intervention, and/or advocacy.
• Experience collaborating with campus and/or community resources.
• Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
• Experience working with diverse populations.
Preferred:
A Master’s degree in Human Services or related field.
• Some supervisory experience.
• Experience working with college-aged populations.
